Merging Two Homes into One: Tips on HVAC Systems

3 Common AC Trouble Signs You Shouldn't Overlook

A normally functioning air conditioning system keeps your home's indoor temperatures cool enough to make your summer days comfortable and bearable. But problems that hurt the cooling performance of your air conditioner can arise at any time, making it imperative to bring in an AC repair specialist.

The good news is that AC problems show in ways that can be easily noticed. All you have to do as a homeowner is to closely monitor how your AC system operates. Highlighted below are some common AC trouble signs you shouldn't ignore.

1. Your AC System Can't Keep You Cool and Comfortable

Your AC system's primary function is to make your indoor living space cool and comfortable during the summer months. If yours isn't doing that, then this is perhaps the most obvious sign that it isn't working as it should.

Before you contact an AC repairer, make sure your cooling system is turned ON and set at the correct temperature setting for summer. If the system is blowing hot yet it's powered up and set at the recommended temperature for summer, it's best to have a specialist have a look at it.

2. Your AC System Produces Unusual Noises

Thanks to advances in HVAC technology, modern versions of nearly all types of air conditioners are quieter than their preceding models. But you should still expect to hear some noise when your AC system is running. Usually, a gentle humming sound indicates that everything's working well.

If you hear any strange sound coming from your air conditioner when it's running, you should have it investigated and addressed. Otherwise, you could easily end up having to deal with a broken AC.

3. Your Home's Energy Bills Are Abnormally High in Summer

Most households experience a spike in their summer energy bills because that's when they keep their air conditioning systems running almost all the time.

While a normal increase in energy bills is expected, higher-than-normal bills may point to inefficient AC system operation. From clogged air filters to frozen evaporator coils to air duct leaks, there are many different issues that could cause your air conditioner to consume more electricity than it is rated to consume.

An experienced AC technician can identify the underlying cause of the problem and address it effectively, thus making your cooling system run efficiently again.

If you observe any of the above signs, you should contact an AC repair technician immediately.
