Merging Two Homes into One: Tips on HVAC Systems

2 Air Conditioning System Installation Options When Your Home Lacks Ductwork

If your home doesn't have ductwork installed, and you are tired of sitting through the hot summer days, you are not out of luck. There are air conditioning system options available to you and that you can install in an existing home so that you can stay cool when it is hot outside.

Option #1: Window Air Conditioning Systems

The first and one of the most common air conditioning options when dealing with a home without duck work is to install a few windows air conditioning systems. Although you can pick out a few units to put in your windows, it is best to work with a professional, even when installing window AC units.

An HVAC contractor will ensure that you choose window units that will work effectively for the space they are placed in. They can help you come up with a plan so that you can strategically place window units throughout your home and effectively cool things off. An HVAC contractor can also upgrade the electrical outlets that the units will plug into so that your power doesn't dim every time one of the window units turns on. They can also install the window unit to be secure, reducing the risk of the unit falling and causing damage.

Option #2: Mini Split System

An increasingly common option when dealing with a lack of an air conditioning system is a mini-split system. With a mini-split system, you will install an outdoor compressor and condenser unit, and you will need to install an indoor air handler. A small hole will need to be drilled through an external wall to connect the components, and the indoor air handler will be hung high up on a wall.

With a mini-split system, you can control the temperature of the individual rooms or areas where the unit is installed in your home. They are a great alternative to a window air conditioning system, as they can more reliably keep your home cool while keeping it more secure and safe as well. Another benefit to a mini-split system is that it can provide you with both heating and cooling. As such, if you are looking for a solution to cool down and heat your home, a mini-split system will cover both needs.

If you live in a home without ductwork and you don't want to install any, you can add window units to keep your home cool, or you can get a mini-split system installed. Either way, be sure to work with an HVAC professional who will ensure that you have the correct number and size of units to cool off your space effectively. They can provide more information regarding the AC installation process.
